December 14, 2021- "Life" In Prison
On what being a prisoner in a Canadian Federal prison is like, how the racism, ignorance and corruption remains hidden from the public, prompting human rights concerns, and how saying “Black Lives Matter” while Black and in prison gets you into trouble.
I would love to understand what the ‘powers-that-be’ say about WHY he/you are in there for more than 20-years pass his/your sentence?
If you are sentenced for 10-years, what is the justification for keeping you there longer? Have you committed other crimes while inside?
It is hard to advocate for someone without understanding clearly how and why they are in their situation.
Thank you for your comment.
Yes, I have committed other crimes while inside (possession of hash), and the authorities’ reasoning behind me being here for an additional 20 years is because I’m involved in the “institutional subculture” which involves wheelin’ and dealin’ within the prison walls. But there are guys in here who are doing the same things (some even on a broader scale), but in some instances, they are liked by the Administration, so they get more leeway and their cases are handled differently. I have 159 Institutional charges over 30 years, which is very low in comparison, the majority of them are for being disrespectful to an officer and refusing an order. A person wouldn’t be going to jail for 20 years, on the outside, for disrespecting/not listening to a police officer.
The rules and laws that sent me to jail are not the same rules and laws that are keeping me in jail.
